The Marketing Funnel
Customers don’t make purchase decisions the first time they hear about your product or service. Instead they go through a series of steps often referred to as the marketing funnel.
This week, Jennifer Denney and Lorraine Ball discussed how understanding the stages of the marketing funnel allows you to craft relevant marketing messages to influence consumer behavior at each step along the way.
What we discussed …
As you evaluate your sales funnel, you can make smart choices about marketing messages and advertising to drive greater sales, more loyalty and stronger brand awareness.
What is a Marketing Funnel?
To easily sum up what a marketing funnel is, essentially where someone is in a marketing funnel is where they are in the buying process. Different marketing messages are needed in all stages of the marketing funnel.
TOF - Top of the Funnel
People at the top of the funnel, are those who are new to your business. You were able to get someone’s attention with your messaging. Now, that they are in your funnel, your messaging needs to explain why people should choose you.
Up Next, Email Marketing
Once you have people in your marketing funnel, and you have reached the stage where your messaging needs to be more convincing, you need to implement email marketing. In this stage, you are talking to a smaller group of people.
BOF - Bottom of the Funnel
In this stage, you are talking to people who are familiar with your business and are ready to buy from your business. Once again, your messaging here should change. Your messaging here may be testimonials or any messages that set you apart from your competitors.
